The future of the hemp industry is under immediate threat. Language has been inserted into both the Senate and House Appropriations bills — and potentially into the Continuing Resolution (CR) process — that would effectively ban hemp within the next 2–3 weeks.
This new language includes a “Total THC .3%” cap, which would eliminate THCa and restrict hemp cultivation, and a 2mg-per-serving limit that would devastate nearly every hemp product on the market. Together, these measures would wipe out small hemp businesses, force farmers out of work, and destroy 99% of the current industry.
It appears that Representative Andy Harris and Senator Mitch McConnell are using the “must-pass” appropriations process to quietly push this ban through. We need immediate, coordinated action to stop it before it becomes law.
